Job Description

Oneida Community Mansion House Welcome to the 93,000-square-foot former home of the utopian Oneida Community (1848-1880)—a place where bold ideas and progressive values shaped both architecture and society. A National Historic Landmark, the Mansion House invites you to explore, relax, and experience history firsthand. Wander through beautifully preserved historic rooms, engaging museum exhibits, and immersive programs that bring the past to life.
Bookstore Hospitality Receptionist Immediate Supervisor:
Director of Hospitality
I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Responsible for daily operation of the Oneida Community Mansion House (OCMH) Museum Bookstore as well as provide information in person and via telephone to guests of the Inn at the Mansion House.
II. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Adhere to all standard policies and procedures. 2. Perform all guest activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner, at all times maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction. 3. Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with management and fellow associates in all OCMH departments. Help achieve our common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction.
III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greet incoming Museum guests in an efficient manner in order to best meet the guests needs. 2. Answer general questions about the history and museum spaces within OCMH. 3. Manage the check-in process for Inn at the Mansion House guests escorting them to their room, providing directions to parking, and other general information about their stay at OCMH. 3. Maintain work area neat and clean at all times. This includes the bookstore, storage areas and office space. 4. Properly bill guests for merchandise purchased or tours taken. Process deposits for overnight guests when booking guest rooms. 5. Balance and maintain a cash bank. 6. Be knowledgeable about the OCMH history, events, overnight guest rooms and other activities related to OCMH. 7. Assist other departments whenever necessary (and available). 8. Perform any reasonable tasks assigned by supervisor or manager.
IV. WORK SCHEDULE
1. The Museum Bookstore and Hospitality Reception functions 7 days a week. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to change an associate from their usual shift as business needs change. 2. This is a part-time position with Saturday and Sunday required along with 1-2 shifts during the week (12p-8p or 4p-8p).
V. PREREQUISITES
1. Prior experience in a customer-oriented atmosphere, preferably in the retail or hospitality field. 2. Basic knowledge and skills to operation a computer and various applications. 3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. 4. Good communication skills.
VI. SAFETY AWARENESS
1. Follow all aspects of job safety. 2. Understand that the job may require bending, stooping, and lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.
Pay:
From $16.50 per hour Application Question(s): Are you available on Saturdays and Sundays?
