About Us The Grafton Inn has been creating memorable dining and hospitality experiences for over 150 years. Located in a quintessential Vermont village, the Inn is a destination for travelers, weddings, and special events. Guests visit from across the region and country, drawn by the quality of our food, our setting, and our commitment to genuine hospitality. Position Overview The Breakfast Chef at The Grafton Inn is responsible for delivering a memorable breakfast experience that reflects the Inn's historic charm and culinary standards. This role sets the tone for each guest's day, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and warm, authentic hospitality. We place a high value on work-life balance, something rare in hospitality. This position typically works 5:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., with breakfast service running Wednesday-Friday from 8:00-9:30 a.m. and weekends from 8:00-10:00 a.m . We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including: Paid vacation and holidays (including Christmas off) Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) plan A collaborative, experienced team environment The opportunity to work within a historic property that has been continuously operating since the 1800s Key Responsibilities Culinary Execution & Quality Prepare and execute a refined New England-style breakfast menu featuring fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients Consistently produce high-quality à la carte and/or buffet offerings, including egg dishes, baked goods, breakfast meats, and specialty items Maintain presentation standards that reflect the Inn's elevated yet approachable style Adapt menus based on seasonality, occupancy levels, and special events, including weddings and group stays Kitchen Operations Independently open the kitchen and prepare all stations for efficient and timely breakfast service Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen in full compliance with health and safety standards Monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs, with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing quality Follow proper food storage, labeling, and rotation procedures (FIFO) Guest Experience & Hospitality Contribute to a warm and welcoming breakfast experience aligned with the Inn's reputation for exceptional hospitality Engage with guests when appropriate, accommodating dietary needs and special requests with care and flexibility Take pride in consistency and presentation, recognizing breakfast as a key touchpoint in the overall guest experience Collaboration & Support Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service Communicate clearly regarding timing, menu updates, and guest needs Assist with light prep for lunch or future services as needed, particularly during high occupancy periods Qualifications Prior experience as a breakfast cook or line cook in a hospitality-driven environment preferred Strong knowledge of classic breakfast cookery and comfort with both à la carte and volume service Ability to work independently and reliably during early morning hours Food safety certification preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen environment Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail Success Factors at The Grafton Inn Dependability and punctuality—essential for successful morning service Pride in craftsmanship and consistency A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience Flexibility to adapt to changing guest counts, especially during weddings and events A team-first mindset and willingness to support the broader Inn operation

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
