Supports the mission of Carthage R-9 School District. Supports the value of education. Become familiar with, enforce, and follow all applicable Board policies and regulations, administrative procedures, other directions given by district administrators and supervisors, and state and federal laws. Properly supervise students at all times, if applicable to essential job functions. Obey all safety rules, including rules protecting the safety and welfare of students. Care for, properly use, and protect school property. Maintain courteous and professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, other district employees and the public. Communicate effectively with supervisors, department staff, all members of the school district, and community as required. Provides excellence in customer service both internally and externally. Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students. Reacts to change productively and receive and transmit constructive criticism as it relates to job duties. Actively participate in professional development and obtain skills and information necessary to effectively perform job duties. Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources. Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position. Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy. Solve practical problems as needed to complete job duties. Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.Essential Functions:
Plan and organize Bright Futures-Carthage activities including, but not limited to, fundraising and other events, arranging venues, publicizing events, and scheduling volunteers. Plan and organize events such as the Back-to-School Bash, and the backpack distribution event. Maintain the Bright Futures-Carthage website and social media pages. Seek out grant opportunities that will benefit Carthage students. Develop or maintain programs that will help meet the needs of Carthage students. Plan and coordinate activities designed to create or maintain a favorable public image or raise issue awareness for Bright Futures-Carthage and the Carthage R-9 School District. Research, write and promote press releases, articles and other communications pieces. Work closely with the district staff to ensure maximum media opportunities are achieved. Attend Bright Futures summits, advisory board meetings, site councils, and other meetings as needed. Maintain and track inventory. Recruit, staff, and coordinate volunteers. Communicate with school counselors, nurses and principals regularly Maintain a network with area business and churches. Track and manage all donations to Bright Futures. Ensure that homeless children and youth are identified by school personnel through outreach and coordination activities with other entities and agencies. Establish practices designed to ensure the school enrollment and success of homeless students. Assist with the enrollment of homeless students and provide assistance with obtaining academic and medical records. Make school placement decisions based on the best interest of the child and wishes of the parent, guardian, or unaccompanied homeless student. Inform parents, guardians, or unaccompanied homeless students of the educational and related opportunities available to them. Ensure homeless students and their families have access to educational services including Head Start, Even Start and other preschool programs administered by the District. Ensure referrals are made to health care, dental, mental health and other appropriate services. Ensure homeless students are not isolated or stigmatized because of their status as homeless. Handle enrollment disputes and ensure disputes over the placement of homeless students are resolved in a timely manner consistent with the requirements of the McKinney Vento Act. Provide/arrange transportation and inform the parent, guardian, or unaccompanied homeless student of the transportation services the school district must make available and assist homeless students in accessing transportation to and from school. Disseminate public notice of the educational rights of homeless students in places where homeless students receive services. Ensure school personnel receive professional development and other support. Ensure unaccompanied homeless students are enrolled in school, have the opportunity to meet the same challenging state academic standards, are informed of their status as independent students under Section 480 of the Higher Education Act and their right to receive verification of this status. Carry out all other duties as assigned. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds. Attendance Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. The work conditions and environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Conditions and Environment The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.Note:
