In this role, you will be working with an Independent Special District as established by House Bill 1515 (codified in Chapter 2007-306, Laws of Florida) passed by the Florida Legislature and approved by the Governor of Florida on June 27, 2007, as amended by House Bill 1039 (codified in Chapter 2016-257, Laws of Florida) passed by the Florida Legislature and approved by the Governor of Florida on March 25, 2016. A strong skill set that includes developing comprehensive budgets and forecasts, will be instrumental in ensuring accurate financial management and reporting. Responsibilities Manage all accounting transactions Prepare and manage budgets and rolling cash forecasts Compile financial statements on a timely basis Reconcile and report on accounts payable and receivable transactions Ensure timely bank related and debt service related payments Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements Develop more detailed accounting of professional fees Manage all contract obligations for operating and maintenance activities Coordinate insurance coverage working with SOV's Management and review of fee collection and processing from 3rd party systems Manage FEMA claim process Report on each special district's financial health Audit financial transactions and documents Adhere to Florida Sunshine Law requirements Comply with financial policies and regulations Qualifications Proven experience in accounting, finance, financial management, or public accounting with a strong foundation in accounting principles such as GAAP Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including profit & loss management, financial statement preparation, and account analysis. Proficiency in financial software tools (QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills (eg. VLOOKUP's) Excellent organizational skills Bachelor's degree in
