Bureau Chief, Strategic Investigations Bureau Queens District Attorney's Office - 3.9 Kew Gardens, NY Job Details $202,731 a year 4 hours ago Benefits Loan forgiveness Qualifications Management Managing legal teams Doctor of Law (JD) Criminal law experience Supervising experience Bar Full Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a Bureau Chief position in our newly established Strategic Investigations Bureau. The Strategic Investigations Bureau conducts long-term investigations focusing on multi-defendant, conspiracy-based crimes, targeting criminal networks and Illicit revenue streams. This bureau includes the Major Narcotics Unit and the Auto Crimes Unit. The Strategic Investigations Bureau partners with Federal, State and Local agencies to investigate crimes while also conducting proactive investigations, including: Insurance fraud cases Stolen car cases from the NYPD Auto Crime Division Forged vehicle title cases. Pattern burglary and robbery investigations. Airport cases involving cargo and organized theft schemes. Case involving Operating as a Major Trafficker and cases involving the seizure of a kilogram or more of controlled substance. Counterfeit currency cases Money laundering cases Organized retail theft cases Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Managing the day-to-day operations of the Strategic Investigations Bureau, including management of ADAs, support professionals and detective investigators assigned to the bureau. Monitoring cases and interfacing with the court, defense bar, Assistant District Attorneys and other stakeholders. Advising ADAs on investigations, case management, grand jury presentations, hearings, trials, possible dispositions, sentencing and other matters. Providing on call support 24-7 as rotational backup supervisor to on-call ADA's and the Intake Bureau.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have extensive experience investigating and trying complex and challenging cases. Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 15 years post-J.D. experience.
Applicants must also have:
Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution, especially complex multi-defendant and conspiracy driven cases. Electronic Communications Interception experience. Substantial felony jury trial experience. Prior experience managing attorneys and support staff. Supervising on-call riding attorneys. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
