The job of Bus Driver Trainer was established for the purpose of providing classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training of applicants and bus drivers; addressing school bus regulations and safety procedures; identifying training requirements; and maintaining required documents for audit in compliance with state certification and district, state, and federal requirements.Salary:
$30.03/hr. - $33.37/hr. (Based on experience)Essential Functions:
Attends meetings, trainings, etc. for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting the requirements of the school bus driver trainer. Conducts regular safety meetings for the purpose of informing bus drivers of changes in laws, regulations, and procedures. Coordinates activities (e.g., bus driver training programs, safety workshops/programs, out-of-town trips, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in conformance with established guidelines. Develops and implements safety-related programs, safety workshops, and information systems for the purpose of implementing effective systems and/or procedures. Evaluates the driving performance of bus drivers (e.g., checks drivers' usage of vehicle equipment, handling of on-the-road situations, interactions with students, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe and proper operations of the school bus. Performs the full range of School Bus Driver duties for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Plans, organizes, and teaches bus driver training programs for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state law. Provides classroom instruction and/or behind-the-wheel training for the purpose of providing instruction to bus drivers and applicants and/or addressing school bus regulations/safety procedures Reviews pertinent data for the purpose of keeping current on all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to school buses and drivers. Drives a bus in emergency situations over a designated route in accordance with a specified time schedule. Rides with bus drivers and evaluates new bus stops, changes in routes, or driver performance. Provides remedial training as needed. Accurate documentation of worked time via time clock and/or time sheets. Submits to Drug/Alcohol testing as required by Federal and State DOT. Abides by all district and departmental policies and regulations as written. Education and/orCertification Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience Needed:
Five years of experience operating school buses in the transportation of regular and special needs students Supervisory training and/or experience that could provide the desired knowledge and abilities Third Party Examiner Certificate and Card Pennsylvania CDL Drivers' License, Class B with School Bus and Air Brake endorsement preferred (Will train the right candidate).Requisite Skills:
Personal driving history accident/violation free for a minimum previous three years No record of DUI or felony while operating a motor vehicle at any time Criminal record free of convictions as set forth in PA Act 34 and Act 151 Able to pass the annual school bus driver's physical as set forth in the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code Physically able to render aid to students in the event of an accident or emergency Must be able to read and speak English.ADA Compliance:
