Job Description

Position Overview:
The Business Manager oversees the district's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations and works closely with the Superintendent and Board to manage district resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the district's annual budget, including forecasting & monitoring expenses. Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including liquidity, credit, and operational risks. Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare financial reports for the Superintendent, Board of Education, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements. Assist with the preparation of financial statements, audits, & other financial documents. Manage and supervise financial operations of grant programs, ensuring proper documentation and reporting. Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board for decision-making. Familiarity with auditing practices to collaborate with annual requirements regarding the district budgeting practices. Collaborate with department heads to track and manage departmental budgets. Oversee district purchasing processes, ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods & services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in accounting required, preferably in a school setting. Strong knowledge of budgeting, accounting principles, and financial reporting. High ethical standards as applied toward fiscal management of public funds. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for budget meetings or special events. Must pass background checks as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and move around the office as needed. Ability to lift and carry materials (up to 25 pounds). Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, and fax machines.
