Colville Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center Events & Business Manager Hourly Wage:
$22+ w/ 6 month reviewPosition Type:
Part-Time Schedule Tuesday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. This position will also require flexibility. Attendance at evening board meetings, community events, and Chamber functions outside regular office hours. Benefits Paid holidays on scheduled workdays PTO accrual of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked following a successful 6-month introductory period Reports To Chamber President and Board of Directors About the Position The Colville Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center is seeking an organized, motivated, and community-minded Events & Business Manager to help lead and support Chamber operations, community events, tourism efforts, and local business engagement. This position serves as a key representative of the Chamber and an advocate for local businesses and employers throughout the greater Colville area. The ideal candidate is energetic, professional, detail-oriented, and passionate about strengthening the community through events, partnerships, communication, and economic development. This is a dynamic and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with people, organizing events, supporting local businesses, and helping shape the future of the Colville community. Mission Statement The mission of the Colville Chamber of Commerce is to provide leadership that stimulates, promotes, and supports economic vitality, tourism, communication, education, and community pride in the greater Colville, Washington area. Position Overview The Events & Business Manager coordinates Chamber operations and works closely with the Board of Directors, local businesses, community organizations, volunteers, and government agencies. This role is responsible for planning and executing Chamber events, maintaining office and financial records, supporting membership growth and retention, marketing Chamber activities, and representing the organization professionally within the community. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Event Coordination & Community Engagement Plan, organize, promote, and oversee Chamber events throughout the year Coordinate vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and event logistics Ensure events are effectively marketed and successfully executed Attend and support all Chamber-sponsored events and programs Current Chamber events include: Monthly Luncheons After Hours Networking Events Home & Garden Show Golf Tournament Sidewalk Sale Car Show Halloween Kiddie & Pet Parade Christmas Tree Lighting Christmas Tree Extravaganza Raffle Chamber Christmas Gala Chamber Operations Assist visitors and community members in person and by phone Maintain membership records and communications Coordinate board meetings, prepare agendas, and assemble board packets Provide monthly operational reports to the Board of Directors Maintain and update the Chamber website and social media platforms Create and review marketing materials, advertising, and public communications Represent the Chamber professionally at community and public meetings Collaborate with the City of Colville and partner organizations Apply for grants and complete required reporting Complete Lodging Tax applications and quarterly reports Financial & Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records, receipts, deposits, and transaction documentation Prepare monthly financial reports and ledgers for board review Prepare payroll documentation for approval Assist with annual tax preparation and required filings Maintain records and reporting requirements related to the Chamber's nonprofit and gambling activities Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal guidelines Teamwork & Leadership Foster positive working relationships with staff, board members, businesses, volunteers, and the public Support a positive and professional work environment Delegate tasks effectively when appropriate Assist with training and coordination of staff and volunteers Qualifications Education & Experience Associate or Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, accounting, public relations, communications, or a related field preferred Equivalent work experience will be considered Minimum of one (1) year of experience in business operations, event planning, marketing, administration, nonprofit work, or a related field Preferred Skills Knowledge of bookkeeping, marketing, public relations, and business operations Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Experience with: QuickBooks or similar Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Social media platforms Website updates and maintenance Graphic design or marketing software is a plus Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Professional and positive public presence Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals and organizations Strong attention to detail and organizational ability Ability to remain flexible and effective in a fast-paced environment Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism Requirements Valid Washington State driver's license Current automobile insurance The duties listed above are intended only as a general summary of the position and are not all-inclusive.
