Position Summary The Business Teacher / FBLA Advisor will provide high-quality instruction that supports student learning in business-related content areas while also promoting leadership, career readiness, and student engagement through involvement in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) . The ideal candidate will create a positive classroom environment, build strong relationships with students and families, and contribute positively to the overall school community.
Essential Responsibilities:
Instructional Responsibilities Provide direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and full-class settings. Use student data and identified learning needs to guide instruction and promote student achievement of district standards. Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects using formal and informal assessment data aligned to the Iowa Core and district expectations. Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials that reflect best practices and meet the needs of individual students. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of students. Plan, implement, and evaluate instruction in alignment with established district curriculum expectations. Classroom Responsibilities Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records as required by law, district policy, and administrative guidelines. Develop and maintain reasonable expectations for student behavior and classroom procedures in a fair and consistent manner. Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and participate in conferences as needed. Implement district policies, procedures, and expected practices with fidelity. Assessment Responsibilities Conduct student assessments to identify learning needs, guide instruction, and determine appropriate interventions. Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback and progress updates to students and families. Collaborate with appropriate building and district personnel regarding student needs and supports. Professional Responsibilities Adhere to the Iowa Teaching Standards. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships and work cooperatively with students, parents, and colleagues. Project a positive image as an educator in both the school and community. Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Maintain a positive attitude and adapt to changing situations and responsibilities. Meet deadlines, maintain punctuality, and complete assigned duties in a timely manner. Seek opportunities for professional growth through ongoing professional development. Collaborate with colleagues to support school improvement efforts and professional learning. Participate in discussions and activities focused on research-based instructional practices. Take an active role in the school community through participation in meetings, committees, and school-related activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal. FBLA Responsibilities Lead and support the school's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter. Encourage student participation in leadership development, competitions, and career-readiness opportunities. Promote student involvement in activities that extend learning beyond the classroom and strengthen connections to business and community partnerships.
