Volunteer (Unpaid) About Hamline Midway Elders Hamline Midway Elders (HME) is a small, neighborhood-based nonprofit founded in 2001 as part of the Living at Home/Block Nurse Program. Today, as a member of the Living at Home Network, our mission remains unchanged: to provide volunteer and professional assistance that enables older adults to remain in their homes with independence, dignity, and choice. We continue to offer tailored, relationship-centered support—doing whatever it takes to help seniors remain well at home. Learn more about our mission and impact: https://www.hmelders.org Board Member Role Board members provide organizational oversight, strategic direction, and community advocacy. This is a meaningful opportunity to support aging adults in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood while contributing your skills to a mission-driven local nonprofit. Time Commitment  Approximately 1-2 hours per month  Monthly board meetings (weeknight; in-person or via Zoom) Primary Responsibilities 
Governance & Oversight:
Support, advise, and evaluate staff; ensure effective planning, budgeting, and financial stewardship. 
Strategic Planning:
Participate in long-term visioning and organizational development. 
Fundraising & Development:
Contribute to fundraising efforts and help expand community support. 
Advocacy:
Serve as an ambassador for HME, promoting our mission within personal and professional networks. 
Board Development:
Assist in strengthening board capacity and engagement. Preferred Skills & Experience We welcome applicants from all professional backgrounds. Individuals with experience in fundraising, development, community engagement, aging services, or nonprofit governance are especially encouraged to apply.
