Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Tourism Director is responsible for the successful execution of the policies and programs of the Perquimans County Tourism Development Authority according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
• Leadership roles include o Participate with the TDA Board members in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization. o Identify, assess, and inform the Board of internal and external issues that affect the organization. o Act as a professional advisor to and spokesperson for the TDA on all aspects of the organization's activities. Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the TDA and act as liaison to partner organizations. o Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the TDA and jointly with the Board when appropriate. o Professionally represent and promote Perquimans County at events and activities to enhance the public profile of the area. Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community, regional, statewide tourism groups, funders, elected officials and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization. • Operational / Program Planning and Management o Responsible for general Perquimans County tourism marketing including but not limited to the oversight of the Activities guide o Accommodation/Event/Dining guide and any other guide materials needed showcasing our County and Towns. o Create and maintain an up-to-date list of all short term rental properties within Perquimans County o Placement and Creation of all TDA display ads, website updates, and marketing contracts with outside organizations. o Hosting of Media for editorial coverage in pertinent publications. o Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the TDA. o Oversee the planning, evaluation and execution of the TDA's programs, services and special projects. o Conduct meetings, by phone or in person with marketing personnel and committees to provide updates and ensure that objectives are met. o Assist the Board in preparation of the annual budget. o Work cooperatively with the Perquimans County Finance Director and Clerk to the Board Offices to ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed as well as that the TDA and its members are following all legislation covering taxation and applicable rules of governance.QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Preferred degree in a related field: preferred travel & tourism, hospitality, and/or marketing.Job Type:
