Board Member
CommunityWise Services, inc.
Saint Cloud, Minnesota (Hybrid) CommunityWise Services Inc. is looking for passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. CommunityWise Services, Inc. is a St. Cloud, MN based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting adults and families of all abilities in achieving their fullest potential. We provide a wide variety of services in the areas of Community Health, Mental Health, Case Management, Employment Supports, Housing Supports, Refugee and Disability Services. CommunityWise Services Inc. helps people achieve the highest level of self-reliance possible while integrating them into their communities. We believe that our community is a better place when everyone has access to essential community-oriented services.
BOARD MEMBER POSITION DESCRIPTION
The board will support the work of CommunityWise Services, Inc. and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Executive Director, the board-staff relationship is a partnership, and the board's involvement is both critical and expected.Board member responsibilities include:
LEADERSHIP, GOVERNANCE & OVERSIGHT
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as s/he develops and implements a strategic plan
- Reviewing outcomes, evaluating impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness
- Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
- Approving CommunityWise Services, Inc. annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director
- Assisting the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other board members
- Partnering with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Representing CommunityWise Services, Inc. to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
- Ensuring CommunityWise Services, Inc.
FUNDRAISING
Board members will consider CommunityWise Services, Inc. a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority. CommunityWise Services, Inc. expects that each board member make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity.BOARD TERMS/PARTICIPATION
CommunityWise Services, Inc.'s board members will actively participate in board meetings and events each year. Each board member can serve a three-year term and may be eligible to serve additional terms after an interview by the board's Personnel Committee, based on level of participation. Board meetings occur once per month, and board members should also plan to participate in special events.QUALIFICATIONS
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about CommunityWise Services, Inc.'s mission. Selected board members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing board members. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:- Professional experience with accomplishments in business, marketing, human resources, development, government, or the nonprofit sector.
- A commitment to and understanding of CommunityWise Services, Inc.'s mission, services, and supports.
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and building consensus among diverse individuals.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of the individuals supported through CommunityWise Services, Inc.
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 2 hours per month (mostly virtual)
- Attendance at monthly board meetings
