Time Commitment:
Approximately 5 hours per week This volunteer role requires in-person presence in Boston, Massachusetts, and current residency in New England. Position Summary The Chair of Audience Relations leads all audience-facing aspects of Orkest's concerts, from first impression to post-event follow-up. This role is responsible for front-of-house operations, ticketing strategy, and audience engagement, ensuring ananized, weing, and accessible experience for all attendees. This role owns the audience experience (front-of-house, ticketing, engagement) and works in close collaboration with the Chair of Concert Operations, who leads backstage production and technical logistics. The Chair of Audience Relations reports to the Board President and Artistic Director, Sapphire Skye Toth. Key Responsibilities Front-of-House Leadership (Primary Owner) Serve as Master of Ceremonies (MC) for concerts, guiding the audience experience Lead front-of-house operations, including check-in, seating flow, and audience support Manage box office operations, including ticketing, guest lists, and door sales Recruit and coordinate front-of-house volunteers as needed Ticketing & Revenue Strategy (Primary Owner) Lead ticket sales strategy in collaboration with marketing efforts Track ticket sales and attendance trends across the season Rmend pricing, access initiatives, and sales tactics to increase attendance Audience Experience & Engagement (Primary Owner) Design and uphold a weing, inclusive audience experience aligned with Orkest's mission Review and analyze audience surveys and feedback Translate audience insights into actionable improvements for future events Cross-Functional Collaboration (d, Clearly Defined) Coordinate event timelines with the Chair of Concert Operations to ensure alignment between front-of-house and production schedules Communicate audience-related needs (start times, house open/close, accessibility) while deferring all technical/backstage decisions to Concert Operations Board Service & Governance Attend bi-monthly virtual Board of Directors meetings Participate in strategic planning andanizational decision-making Fulfill fiduciary responsibilities as a nonprofit board member Additional Information This is an unpaid, volunteer Board of Directors position Administrative work is primarily remote; in-person attendance is required for concerts Board meetings are held virtually on a bi-monthly basis
Qualifications:
Required Strong interpersonal and public-facingmunication skills Confidence in public speaking and event hosting Organizational ability in fast-paced, live event settings Interest in audience engagement, accessibility, andmunity-building Ability tomit approximately 5 hours per week Availability for in-person concerts Preferred Experience with box office operations or ticketing platforms Background in arts administration, marketing, or audience development Experience working with volunteers or front-of-house teams Familiarity with nonprofit board service
