Job Description
Define requirements, drive customer discovery, and shape the product roadmap for safety software protecting over a million people daily, as the first dedicated product hire at a fast-growing global company. CriticalArc CriticalArc is the company behind SafeZone®, the unified safety, security, and emergency management platform deployed across higher education, healthcare, enterprise, and critical infrastructure in more than 80 countries. SafeZone delivers real-time situational awareness, mobile-first personal safety tools, and mass and targeted communications, enabling safety and security teams to provide "Safety Everywhere" for the people they protect. What You Will Do You'll own the product requirements process end to end, working directly with the CEO and an engineering team in Australia. You'll conduct discovery sessions with campus security leaders, healthcare IT teams, and emergency managers across the US, manage async handoffs across three time zones, and use AI tools to accelerate every part of the workflow. There's room to help establish AI-native product practices for the broader team. Responsibilities Translate customer and stakeholder input into structured PRDs, user stories, and specs the engineering team can build from Maintain the product backlog in Jira in partnership with the CEO and head of engineering Produce wireframes and lightweight prototypes to surface requirements early, especially for SafeZone's web, mobile, and control room interfaces Run beta programs and release feedback loops; build and maintain competitive intelligence on the safety and emergency management landscape Partner with marketing, sales, and customer success on launch readiness and field enablement Who You Are You have real experience translating customer conversations into requirements engineering teams can build from, and you default to documentation over meetings. You're a genuine daily AI user who can speak specifically to your workflow and is excited to push it further. Healthcare IT or higher education IT exposure is strongly preferred; experience at a vertical SaaS or security vendor is a plus, as is UI/UX or prototyping background. Qualifications 2+ years in business analysis, product management, solutions engineering, or a comparable product-adjacent role with demonstrated ownership of requirements documentation Strong PRD and requirements writing skills; track record of producing documentation engineering teams can build from Jira and Atlassian suite experience; comfortable in technical conversations with both engineers and enterprise IT stakeholders A plus if you have UI design, prototyping, or wireframing experience; a UX designer who has moved into product or BA work is a strong fit Benefits $120,000 to $150,000 base salary Comprehensive healthcare benefits and 401(k) with 6% company match Hybrid flexibility for Colorado-based employees; phone reimbursement and paid holidays Ongoing professional development, including executive training programs, industry conferences, and professional networking CriticalArc is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture that celebrates innovation, teamwork, and personal growth.
