Job Description

Strategic Planning Director The Strategic Planning Director is a mission-critical individual contributor who serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO. This hands-on role is responsible for enterprise-level strategic planning and rigorous business analysis that guide decisions for the company's most critical priorities. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this individual partners directly with the CEO to frame complex problems, evaluate strategic options, deliver rigorous, data-driven insights that shape the company's direction and decisions. This is a key role that influences outcomes through insight, analysis, and cross-functional alignment. The ideal candidate brings exceptional financial and analytical capabilities, sound business judgment, and exceptional people skills to work effectively with senior leaders across the organization. Success in this role comes from exceptional intellectual rigor, deep analytical capability, sound judgment, and the ability to consistently deliver clear, thoughtful, and actionable insights. The individual must thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities evolve quickly and the stakes are high.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary advisor to the CEO, driving high-impact business outcomes through rigorous data-driven analysis, clear prioritization, and disciplined execution of key initiatives. Build robust financial and operational models to evaluate business scenarios, investments, and strategic trade-offs. Analyze complex business problems, developing clear, actionable recommendations for executive decision making. Partner with executive leadership to pressure-test strategies, identify risks, and refine plans. Translate strategy into defined initiatives and execution roadmaps in collaboration with functional leaders. Prepare high-quality executive materials for board meetings, investor discussions, and leadership reviews. Support special projects and high-priority initiatives as directed by the CEO, often operating under tight timelines and ambiguity. Synthesize competitive intelligence and industry trends into actionable insights.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred. Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, investment banking, or strategic finance. Successful experience working closely with senior executives and contributing to high-stakes decision-making. Entrepreneurial experience is a plus. Experience working with government agencies and organizations is a plus.
Experience and Skills:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into clear, actionable insights. Advanced mastery of spreadsheet modeling and financial analysis to deliver clear and insightful analysis and recommendations. Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build trust, establish credibility, and effectively collaborate with executive stakeholders. Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and comfortable operating in ambiguity with proven ability to operate independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development of executive- level and board materials. High degree of discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling sensitive information. Strategic mindset with the ability to connect long-term vision to practical execution. Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines. Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with data analysis and visualization tools is a plus. Willingness to travel as needed.
