Business Systems Analyst

Description We are looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join a long-term contract opportunity supporting finance-focused initiatives in Cleveland, OH. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify business needs, shape requirements, and help translate complex financial processes into practical system solutions. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with a collaborative approach and can communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities:

• Work with partners across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Actuarial, Audit, and related teams to understand operational needs and map business processes tied to finance initiatives.
• Gather, document, and confirm both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment among stakeholders and resolving gaps or conflicting interpretations.
• Define financial data needs for reporting, dashboards, analytics, and connected systems that support ongoing business insight and decision-making.
• Evaluate business issues, identify downstream impacts, and present clear recommendations, options, and proposed actions to support informed decisions.
• Translate business questions into structured solution requirements and contribute to the creation and refinement of features within an Agile delivery environment.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and offshore resources to support collaboration, execution, and shared accountability across project work.
• Maintain and prioritize work items using Jira or a similar backlog management tool to support transparent planning and delivery.
• Support hybrid collaboration by working onsite in Bristol, Connecticut Tuesday through Thursday and remotely on Monday and Friday, with additional onsite presence as needed. Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in business analysis or a closely related role supporting enterprise initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, facilitate discussions, and present information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Hands-on experience with Jira or comparable tools for backlog organization, feature tracking, and Agile team support.
• Working knowledge of data platforms such as Snowflake, ETL processes, cloud technologies, and system integrations.
• Understanding of data governance practices, metadata concepts, data quality standards, and compliance-related considerations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
• Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and work effectively with cross-functional, vendor, and offshore teams.
