SENIOR SCIENTIST
- Abbott Labs / Lake Forest, IL Serve as lead developer for data analytics and business intelligence (BI) reporting team. Develop reports and dashboards for assay performance monitoring across immunoassay and clinical chemistry diagnostic products to support technical teams. Manage complex projects to collect user requirements and develop analytics reports across a network of scientists and engineers located in the US and Europe. Collaborate across R D, Quality, Regulatory and Technical functions to proactively identify opportunities to improve analytics capabilities and data access to help drive digital lean solutions. Serve as an IT liaison ensuring business needs are met as technological changes are implemented. Build data flows between on-premises and cloud storage solutions following corporate cybersecurity and network regulations. Mentor business users in use of data systems and technology tools to support technical troubleshooting and expansion of analytics capabilities. Recognize opportunities and proactively propose novel ideas for significant reporting and analytics solutions to drive process or product improvements. Responsible for requirements gathering, impact analysis, data analysis requests, and estimation of Power BI projects. Manage Power BI premium workspace to ensure adherence to developing best practices, set schedules, oversee access and monitoring utilization to recommend enhancements. Architect scalable Business Intelligence Reporting solutions and create reports, dashboards, and mobile analytics applications using Power BI. Manage Cognos report workspace for product monitoring reports. Develop, test, and design Cognos reports and create various test scenarios for validation testing. Provide support on application deployment and production support, including tracking and execution of bug fixes and knowledge transitions from development team to support team during project rollouts. Provide user guidance on access, manage report schedules, and oversee automation delivering reports to end user SharePoint sites. Perform validation and verification documentation to support software lifecycle requirements. Utilize corporate approved software and programming languages including SQL, Oracle, Power Query, Cognos Report Studio, Cognos Framework Manager, PowerBI report authoring, DAX Query, R, Python, JMP statistical analytics, Power Automate, and Power Apps. Communicate effectively across functional areas to knowledge share, knowledge transfer, and provide project updates. Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Data Science, or in a related technical or computational field of study with at least 5 years of related progressive professional experience. Must possess at least 3 years of professional data analytics and business intelligence reporting experience in the following: (i) requirements gathering, impact analysis, data analysis requests, and estimation of Power BI projects; (ii) architecting scalable solutions Business Intelligence Reporting solutions and creating reports, dashboards, and mobile analytics applications using Power BI. Must possess an academic or industrial background in the following: (iii) developing, testing, and designing Cognos reports and creating various test scenarios for validation testing; (iv) providing support on application deployment and production support, including tracking and execution of bug fixes and knowledge transitions from development team to support team during project rollouts; and (v) Oracle, SQL, Power Query, Cognos Report Studio, and Cognos Framework Manager.
