Provide services as a Scientific Program Analyst (Small Biomedical Businesses) in support of the overall functions of the Division of Extramural Activities (DEA), Office of Research Training and Special Programs (ORTSP), Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the NIAID Small Business Program Coordinator, SBIR team, scientific program staff, to identify and inform small biomedical business owners about NIAID research activities and funding. Provide assistance to
SBIR/STTR
applicants, answering applicant calls/emails. Provide support to Program Officers, GM specialists, OKER office assistance with
SBIR/STTR
inquiries. Work with
NIAID SBIR
team to identify and track key sources of commercialization resources, including Regional SBDCs, biotech investment resources, and activities to identify potential outreach and promotion opportunities. Perform in-depth analysis of extramural small business biomedical research within NIAID mission areas (infectious diseases, immunology, HIV/AIDS) and relevant research products (therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics, etc.). Evaluate biomedical product outcomes using scientific literature searches in science and biotechnology, and evaluate success of small business research products funded by the NIAID. Assist/organize programs that will attract and retain small biomedical businesses producing research products and technology of interest to the NIAID. Assist in the evaluation of new or enhanced small business and technology development programs and initiatives. Collaborate with other ORTSP staff to integrate work activities. Provide technical and program guidance and direction in

area Communicate (in person, by email, or conference call) with small business researchers and owners to discuss
SBIR/STTR
research programs. Interact with other IC's to discuss scientific programs and activities. Maintain and develop new Small Business "Success Stories" content. Maintain
SBIR/STTR
Mailing List and Develop Regular Bulletin. Serve as day-to-day web content POC; coordinate between SBIR Team and OKER to ensure accurate and timely updates to NIAID Small Business Program Web content; develop new content including FAQs. Serve as
NIAID POC
for
NIH SEED
office programs and activities. Coordinate efforts of NIAID's program staff to support the
NIH SEED
office programs activities. Participate in NIAID virtual and in-person outreach activities and events by providing presentations and/or providing advice and assistance to NIAID applicants and awardees in need.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
Masters' Degree, with PhD preferred, and 3-5 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff. Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
