Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Business Control Specialist to join our financial operations team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and strengthening internal controls across various business units. Your expertise will help safeguard company assets, promote transparency, and support strategic decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your accounting knowledge and regulatory compliance skills in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. Duties Develop, implement, and monitor internal control processes aligned with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations) frameworks to ensure robust risk management. Conduct internal audits to verify adherence to corporate accounting policies, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act and Fair Housing regulations. Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with technical accounting standards, including TILA (Truth in Lending Act) and securities law. Support regulatory reporting efforts by preparing detailed reports that meet industry standards and legal obligations. Assist in fraud prevention and detection initiatives by analyzing financial data for anomalies or suspicious activities related to banking transactions or ACH (Automated Clearing House) payments. Collaborate with external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and ensure compliance with GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards). Maintain comprehensive records of internal controls, audit findings, and compliance activities to facilitate continuous improvement. Skills Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements, internal audit procedures, and regulatory frameworks such as COSO. Proficiency in accounting principles, corporate accounting practices, and financial concepts essential for accurate reporting and analysis. Knowledge of banking operations, fraud prevention techniques, securities law, and regulatory reporting standards. Experience with technical accounting issues including fair housing regulations, TILA disclosures, and ACH transactions. Familiarity with financial software systems used for compliance management, auditing, and reporting purposes. Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies or risks proactively. Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and presenting complex information clearly.
