DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for analyzing clinical, financial, operational, and organizational data to support decision-making, strategic planning, quality improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives within a healthcare system. Incumbents in this class develop reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used to evaluate clinical outcomes, operational performance, utilization trends, and financial performance. The work requires collaboration with clinical, administrative, financial, quality improvement, and information technology personnel to identify reporting needs, interpret data, and develop data-driven solutions. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology and Informatics or other administrative designee, with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out assignments. The incumbent works closely with clinical, operational, financial, and administrative staff in developing and implementing analytical and reporting solutions. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets clinical, financial, operational, and organizational data;
  • Develops and maintains reports, dashboards, scorecards, and data visualization tools to support organizational decision-making;
  • Assists in evaluating clinical quality indicators, operational performance metrics, utilization trends, and patient outcomes;
  • Assists departments in identifying trends, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement;
  • Collaborates with clinical, operational, financial, and information technology staff to identify reporting and analytical needs;
  • Prepares reports and presentations summarizing analytical findings and recommendations;
  • Assists in ensuring data accuracy, consistency, integrity, and confidentiality across multiple systems and reporting platforms;
  • Assists with regulatory, compliance, and quality reporting requirements;
  • Assists in the automation and improvement of reporting processes and data workflows;
  • Utilizes business intelligence, reporting, spreadsheet, database, and data visualization software in the performance of duties;
  • May assist end users in understanding and utilizing reports, dashboards, and analytical tools;
  • May participate in organizational performance improvement and data governance initiatives.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of healthcare data systems, reporting methods, and analytical techniques; good knowledge of clinical, financial, and operational performance metrics utilized in healthcare settings; working knowledge of business intelligence and data visualization software; working knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications; ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations; ability to develop dashboards and reporting tools; ability to identify trends and formulate recommendations based upon data analysis; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; sound professional judgment; initiative; accuracy; dependability; tact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Either A. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, data analytics, information systems, public health, business administration, nursing, statistics, computer science, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in healthcare analytics, business intelligence, healthcare informatics, or data analysis involving the interpretation and reporting of clinical, financial, or operational data; OR B. Possession of an Associate's degree in healthcare administration, data analytics, information systems, public health, business administration, nursing, statistics, computer science, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as described in (A); OR C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B). Preference may be given to candidates possessing a Master's degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, data science, healthcare informatics, or a closely related field. #wyhosp
