Consultant - Business Valuations A leading advisory firm is seeking a Consultant to join its Business Valuations practice based in Rochester, New York. The team operates in a hybrid work environment, with most in‑office time occurring Wednesday and Thursday. Role Overview Consultants support valuation engagements for a variety of purposes, including financial reporting, transaction support, tax, strategic planning, and dispute‑related matters. The role provides hands‑on analytical experience across a wide range of industries, business models, and capital structures, along with growing client exposure and responsibility. Key Responsibilities Analyze historical and projected financial statements and perform quantitative and qualitative assessments. Review materials such as management presentations, financial models, transaction documents, and market data. Build and update valuation analyses using methodologies including discounted cash flow, public company comparables, and precedent transactions. Identify and assess relevant comparable companies and transactions. Conduct industry, market, and economic research to support valuation conclusions. Prepare valuation reports, presentations, and supporting documentation. Respond to client, auditor, and internal inquiries related to valuation work. Participate in client meetings and support due diligence discussions. Assist with proposals, fee estimates, and internal engagement documentation. Support engagement management and administrative tasks, including timelines and close‑outs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 1-2 years of experience in business valuation, corporate finance, accounting, transaction services, or a related field. Working knowledge of core valuation methodologies (DCF, public comparables, precedent transactions). Strong Excel skills and proficiency in PowerPoint and Word; financial modeling experience preferred. Strong communication, writing, organizational, and time‑management skills. Progress toward or interest in professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, ASA) preferred but not required. High integrity and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, deadline‑driven environment. Visa sponsorship is not available.
