Description:
Seeking a consultant to lead a Proof of Concept (POC) for Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management in a Microsoft 365 development tenant.
This role will configure and validate retention policies, disposition review, interoperability with existing sensitivity labels/DLP, testing, reporting, and as-built documentation, with a focus on creating repeatable patterns for future rollout.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead planning workshops to define POC scope, objectives, datasets, and success criteria.
Identify and confirm in-scope M365 workloads (Point Online, OneDrive, Teams) and test containers/content.
Define retention and records scenarios (triggers, durations, disposition actions, reviewer groups, exceptions).
Configure up to four (4) Purview retention policies/labels and one (1) disposition review workflow in the development tenant.
Validate role/permission model (Compliance Admin, Records Manager, Disposition Reviewer) for configuration and testing.
Prepare and validate representative POC datasets and content types in selected locations.
and test existing Information Protection sensitivity labels and DLP policies against the POC dataset.
Execute and document test cases for retention behavior, disposition processing, and audit/reporting outputs.
Identify and validate built-in Purview/M365 reporting and audit capabilities for evidence and KPIs.
Fine-tune configurations based on test results and stakeholder feedback.
Produce concise as-built documentation, test evidence, and recommendations for broader rollout.
Required Qualifications:
3 years hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 compliance solutions, including Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management.
Proven experience designing and implementing retention labels/policies and disposition review workflows in Purview.
Strong working knowledge of Point Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams content locations and permissions.
Experience with Microsoft Information Protection sensitivity labels and DLP policies, including interoperability with retention and records workflows.
Demonstrated ability to design and execute test plans, capture evidence, and interpret audit logs and compliance reports in M365.
Familiarity with M365 admin/compliance roles and least-privilege permission models (Compliance Admin, Records/Information Manager, etc.)
Excellent documentation skills for as-built configurations, test results, and operational handoffs.
Strong stakeholder facilitation skills: ability to run planning sessions, confirm requirements, and present findings/recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft certification in Security, Compliance, or Information Protection (e.g., SC-400, SC-900, MS-102 or similar)
Experience with records management programs and information governance in regulated or enterprise environments
Prior consulting/POC experience establishing repeatable patterns for production-scale implementations
