Job Description
The Business Analyst (BA) is a position designed to be responsible for providing functional and technical analysis and design in support of projects that may require business process clarification, system enhancements, and software integrations. This position requires competency in all areas of business process/system analysis, and is expected to provide functions including facilitation, needs assessment, requirements definition, technical specifications, business process mapping, and change management support. A business analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. The business analyst works closely with the functional team to understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.
Duties include:
Supporting the University's enterprise research administration using Huron Research Suite (HRS) software, including key domains such as Conflict of Interest, Employee Compensation Compliance, Institutional Review Board, Export Control, Safety, Grants, Agreements, Research Analytics, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and Animal Operations. Leading and participating in mission-critical activities, including business process analysis, technical analysis, solution design, software modification, interface design, testing, and documentation. Collaborating with colleagues within the Department of Technology Solutions (DTS) to ensure dependencies between the enterprise applications, such as Oracle Fusion Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, are considered in all designs. Ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems while providing configuration, support, and training for assigned HRS modules. Identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement and collaborating with stakeholders to develop improvements to processes and research administration functionality, while addressing system deficiencies and aligning with institutional goals. The position does NOT support now or in the future employment-based visa sponsorship to work in the United States (including, but not limited to, H-1B, TN, E-3, O-1, F-1 OPT/STEM OPT, J-1, etc.) Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Lead cross-functional collaboration by facilitating meetings, aligning stakeholders, and developing strategic work plans to support project and operational goals. Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring effective system design, integration, and data flow. Serve as a liaison between technical teams and functional users to ensure clear communication, successful implementation, and ongoing application support. Configure, maintain, and enhance research administration systems to ensure compliance with federal and institutional policies. Independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues, identify system gaps, and implement innovative solutions. Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and business intelligence tools to support data-driven decision-making. Lead system testing, upgrades, and implementations, including impact analysis, test strategy execution, and deployment planning. Deliver training, develop user support materials, and contribute to change management initiatives to promote user adoption. Partner with vendors and stakeholders to support system enhancements and tailored solutions. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize system functionality and align with organizational objectives. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends through ongoing professional development.
