Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Costing Analyst is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining accurate cost data to support financial planning, operational decision-making, and business strategy. This role partners cross-functionally to evaluate cost structures, identify variances, and provide insights that drive profitability, efficiency, and informed investment decisions across products and operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Analyze and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, overhead, equipment, and production, using historical data, actual performance, and standard costing methodologies. Evaluate variances between estimated, standard, and actual costs; identify drivers and provide actionable insights to improve cost performance. Partner with operations, procurement, and finance to gather cost inputs, validate assumptions, and improve cost accuracy across products and processes. Support new product introductions and engineering changes through cost modeling, analysis, and financial impact assessments. Develop and maintain cost databases and reporting tools to track trends, identify risks, and support decision-making. Conduct profitability and margin analysis at the product, customer, or project level to inform business strategies. Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives, identifying opportunities for efficiency and savings. Assist in preparing business cases and financial models to support new business opportunities and capital investments. Ensure costing processes and documentation comply with internal controls and financial standards. May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or another related field. 1-3 years' experience as a costing or financial analyst; or equivalent combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to work independently in a high-volume contracting environment. Ability to analyze a problem and recommend solutions, problem solving skills. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
