Job Description

Role:
Guidewire Business Analyst Location:
Richmond, VA (Hybrid - 3 to 4 days onsite per week)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Guidewire Business Analyst to support enterprise-level Guidewire InsuranceSuite initiatives, including implementation, enhancement, and optimization projects within a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, architects, and QA teams to translate business needs into functional Guidewire solutions across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter. This role requires strong business analysis expertise within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain along with hands-on experience supporting Guidewire transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Business & Requirements Analysis Partner with business users and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements. Lead requirement discovery sessions, workshops, interviews, and process discussions to identify operational gaps and business needs. Prepare detailed functional documentation including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, workflows, use cases, and acceptance criteria. Analyze current business processes and recommend improvements aligned with Guidewire capabilities. Guidewire Solution Support Work with technical teams to define functional solutions within Guidewire InsuranceSuite modules. Support solution design activities by mapping business requirements to Guidewire configurations and workflows. Assist in defining business rules, screen flows, process automation, and functional enhancements. Collaborate with developers and architects to ensure solutions align with business objectives and platform best practices. Integration & Data Analysis Identify and document integration requirements between Guidewire and external applications such as payment systems, third-party vendors, APIs, and enterprise data platforms. Support data mapping, interface analysis, and end-to-end workflow validation across integrated systems. Participate in discussions related to data migration and system interoperability. Testing & User Acceptance Support Coordinate with QA teams to define testing strategies, create test scenarios, and validate functional requirements. Participate in SIT and UAT activities, ensuring business expectations are properly validated. Assist in defect analysis, issue resolution, and requirement traceability throughout the testing lifecycle. Provide functional guidance and support to end users during testing phases. Stakeholder & Project Coordination Serve as a liaison between business teams and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitate communication across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on deliverables, priorities, and timelines. Provide status updates, risk identification, and issue tracking support to project leadership and stakeholders. Documentation & Training Maintain accurate project documentation, functional specifications, process flows, and change records. Develop training materials and support user enablement activities for newly implemented functionalities. Assist with knowledge transfer and adoption of Guidewire solutions across business teams. Process Improvement Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and system functionality. Recommend enhancements and optimization opportunities within Guidewire applications and business processes.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Business Analyst experience within Guidewire InsuranceSuite projects. Hands-on experience with one or more Guidewire modules: PolicyCenter BillingCenter ClaimCenter Strong experience gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements. Experience supporting Guidewire Cloud implementation or modernization initiatives. Solid understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance processes. Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments. Strong knowledge of UAT coordination, test case validation, and defect management. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Guidewire Associate Certification in PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter. CBAP, CCBA, ScrumMaster, or other Business Analysis/Agile certifications preferred. Experience with integrations, APIs, and third-party system connectivity. Prior experience supporting enterprise digital transformation initiatives within the insurance industry.
