Join a leader in advanced EV batteries. www.lgenergymi.com Summary As a Sr. Purchasing Specialist, you will lead purchasing and customs compliance activities to support operational and business objectives. This role is responsible for managing import/export compliance, customs regulations, supplier coordination, trade documentation, and purchasing operations while ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations. You will support strategic sourcing initiatives, optimize operational efficiency, and collaborate with global headquarters and cross-functional teams to strengthen supply chain performance and business competitiveness.
Responsibilities:
Lead customs compliance and purchasing activities related to imported materials, products, and services Prepare origin and classification rulings and ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations Verify Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. (HTSUS) classifications and applicable customs duties Determine country-of-origin criteria under applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTA), including UKFTA, UJFTA, USMCA, and others Monitor regulatory changes and apply duty exemption programs, including Section 232 and Section 301 exclusions Support Antidumping and Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD) reviews and determine product applicability Respond to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inquiries, including CF-28 requests, in a timely manner Manage large data sets and support drawback claim filings for manufacturing and unused merchandise programs Maintain and monitor continuous customs bond compliance annually Manage correction filings through Post Summary Correction (PSC), Protest, and Prior Disclosure processes Maintain certificates of origin and ensure compliance with FTA recordkeeping requirements Support setup, maintenance, and compliance of C-TPAT certification requirements Report customs entry records and operational updates to headquarters on a monthly basis Review daily CF-7501 and CF-3461 documentation and coordinate corrections with customs brokers as needed Collaborate with suppliers, brokers, logistics providers, and internal teams to ensure smooth purchasing and import operations Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance compliance, efficiency, and cost optimization Support purchasing strategies and supplier management initiatives to improve operational performance Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
Active Licensed Customs Broker Experience:
7 + years of experience in customs compliance, purchasing, import/export operations, or supply chain management Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, FTAs, AD/CVD, and import/export compliance Experience working in manufacturing or automotive-related industries preferred Experience supporting global suppliers and cross-functional operations preferred
Skills:
