This role plays a key part in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of steel materials, hardware, and subcontracted services to support both fabrication and field operations. Key Responsibilities Procure structural steel materials including wide flange, plate, HSS, pipe, and miscellaneous metals Solicit, analyze, and negotiate vendor quotes for pricing, lead times, and delivery terms Issue and manage purchase orders aligned with project budgets and schedules Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and shop teams to ensure material availability Track deliveries and proactively resolve shortages, delays, or discrepancies Build and maintain strong relationships with mills, distributors, and specialty vendors Monitor steel market trends, pricing fluctuations, and freight impacts Ensure all purchased materials meet project specifications, drawings, and quality standards Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing experience in structural steel, fabrication, or commercial construction Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, grades, and industry terminology Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and material takeoffs Experience in a fast-paced fabrication or construction environment Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Tekla, SDS2, or Bluebeam Knowledge of AISC standards and fabrication workflows Established relationships with steel suppliers and vendors in
