The successful candidate must possess:
A minimum 4 years' experience as a purchasing agent. Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree and/or work experience equivalent preferred. Written and verbal fluency in Mandarin and English. Fluency in Cantonese is a PLUS. The applicant must communicate with vendors confidently and assertively. This may require late-hour communications via phone, email, and/or fax for live communication with Chinese vendors (on their time frame). Exceptional negotiation skills, company's success relies on its capacity to take advantage of the best prices and discount programs offered by vendors. Technical knowledge of the lighting industry is a PLUS (electrical, electronic and or mechanical) including familiarity with specification sheets, LED products, CFL products, Metal Halide products, and such. Great attention to detail, and ability to correspond on items such as the size of a screw, configuration of a prototype, the material used for inventory items, troubleshooting discrepancies on samples, analyzing drawings, and helping our technical support staff create instruction manuals. Every detail is important, with the potential to create catastrophic results if overlooked. Great work ethic, demonstrated by reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and follow-up. Working knowledge of standard office software and equipment (fax, phone, computers) and Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Communications may take place over the phone, via e-mail, Zoom, fax, or a combination of electronic and other. Multitasking ability as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction. Must have good strong follow-up and intuitive skill to prioritize assignments and organize shipments to minimize costs. Ability to work successfully independently within a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable work environment, and cooperatively in a dynamic team environment. Examples of Day-to-Day Duties Correspond daily with overseas suppliers, track shipments, maintain and evaluate cost reports, make suggestions on inventory additions, and make suggestions on streamlining product development. Collaborate with inside staff for order updates/changes and monitoring special custom products. Provide accurate lead times. Analyze current purchasing trends and make purchasing recommendations. Assist with inventory maintenance.Candidate Requirements:
