Job Title:
Senior Buyer / Procurement Specialist - Electronics Manufacturing Job Description This role is a key position within the Purchasing Department, working closely with Asset Managers (Material Planners) and the Program Management Team to execute a high volume of accurate purchasing transactions. You will manage procurement activities for a wide range of electronic commodities, maintain alignment with material demand through various systems and processes, and consistently achieve individual and team KPIs in a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Deliver a high volume of accurate purchasing transactions on a daily basis while meeting or exceeding individual and team KPIs. Proactively and assertively negotiate with suppliers on commodities, pricing, and shipping terms to minimize excess costs and purchase price variance. Stay current on changes related to assigned commodities and procurement desk to ensure informed purchasing decisions. Manage past due deliveries, pull-ins, push-outs, and cancellations on a daily basis to support production and customer requirements. Identify high-risk parts or supply issues and promptly escalate them to management for resolution. Execute MRP-driven actions in strict accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures. Quickly resolve nonconforming material issues by collaborating with suppliers, customers, and internal Quality and Engineering teams. Work closely with Accounting to resolve invoice, pricing, and quantity discrepancies related to purchase orders. Reconcile open order reports regularly to ensure data integrity and accurate order status. Maintain accurate system updates, including material lead times and other key purchasing data within ERP/MRP systems. Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) as required to support sourcing and cost optimization. Support assigned programs in coordination with Planning, Strategic Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality teams. Send automated requirement updates weekly to all relevant target suppliers to ensure clear communication of demand. Follow through on all purchasing-related workflows and metrics, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting. Review excess material on a monthly basis and determine appropriate disposition actions. Process and action nonconforming material (MRB) on a weekly basis in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Essential Skills 5+ years of successful direct procurement experience in a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing environment. Proven experience purchasing commodities such as printed circuit boards, cable assemblies and harnesses, electronic components, custom and catalog assemblies, and sheet metal or machined parts. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure while managing a high volume of transactions. Hands-on experience performing purchasing tasks within ERP/MRP systems, including platforms such as Manex and Spotlight. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, documents, and reports. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of negotiating effectively with suppliers on pricing, terms, and conditions. Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Strong written communication skills, producing professional, thorough, and accurate written correspondence and recaps. Ability to identify and manage risk related to parts, supply constraints, and supplier performance. Experience resolving nonconforming material issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal Quality and Engineering teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated ability to function as a cross-functional team player, collaborating effectively with Planning, Strategic Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Program Management. Strong task prioritization skills, ensuring critical activities are completed first while maintaining timely completion of all responsibilities. Proactive mindset, with the ability to assess what needs to be done and take initiative without waiting for direction. Comfort and confidence in engaging with the supply base to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules. Detail-oriented approach to maintaining accurate system data, including lead times, order status, and material information. Familiarity with managing excess and nonconforming material, including reviewing, dispositioning, and coordinating MRB activities. Interest in potential contract-to-hire arrangements, with flexibility to work on a month-to-month basis as needed. Work Environment This is an onsite position within a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in a production-oriented setting, using ERP/MRP systems such as Manex and Spotlight, along with standard Microsoft Office tools. The role involves frequent interaction with suppliers, planners, program managers, and quality and engineering personnel, and requires consistent presence on site to support daily purchasing activities and collaboration. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Morgan Hill, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
