Full Job Description General Description:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the procurement of products and service required by the company. The Purchasing Agent coordinates their efforts with other departments to ensure that all company requirements and project schedules are met.
Reports to:
Vice President Responsibilities:
1. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase orders, order confirmations, and change orders 2. Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing requested items to vendor quotations and catalogs, clarifying unclear items and recommending alternatives as necessary 3. Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, and obtaining approval from requisitioning department 4. Obtains purchased items by issuing purchasing orders to suppliers 5. Monitors and expedites open purchase orders, communicating order status as necessary within the company 6. Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered and resolving problems with suppliers 7. Liaises with Quality Control to report defective or unacceptable goods or services 8. Manages return orders for defective, unneeded, or overstocked items 9. Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation to the appropriate internal corporate departments 10. Keeps order information accessible by sorting and filing documents 11. Ensures that all company procurement procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner 12. Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends 13. Lead the evaluation and monitoring of supplier performance to ensure compliance with obligations and determine needs for changes. 14. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 15. Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related activities as needed
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Previous Experience:
Microsoft Office Adobe Acrobat Pay:
$52,000.00 - $62,400.00 per year
