Position Summary:
With minimal supervision responsible for purchasing and vendor negotiations. Evaluates quotes and services, and historic performance data to ensure best quality and quality at best value.
Key Responsibilities:
§ Manages inventory of raw materials by utilizing the min/max reports weekly. Updating as necessary to ensure proper inventory levels. § Processes blanket purchase orders to ensure inventory levels for floor stock etc. § Works with planning to forecast demand using multiple metrics, including finished goods, forecasts and usage history to determine appropriate inventory levels of raw materials. § Assists planning by ordering raw materials needed to fulfill customer orders by creating purchase requisitions, request pricing, obtain approval signatures and placing purchase orders. § Monitors and evaluates supplier performance along with Quality to determine and implements corrective actions to resolve impending supplier failure that may delay production or delivery. § Maintains accurate lead times, issues PO's that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers. § Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes with suppliers.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
§ Minimum 5+ years purchasing experience. AA degree or some college preferred. Experience in medical / diagnostic / biotechnology production setting strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
§ Follows company policies, procedures and objectives, and safety standards. § Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision. § Strong attention to detail, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. § The ability to multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment and work well as part of a team. § Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Skills, most critically Excel. § Knowledge of FDA Quality System Requirements, cGMP and ISO Standards. § Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization. § Effective negotiation skills.
