Job DescriptionSummary of PositionReporting to the Purchasing and Inventory Manager, the Purchasing Specialist executes the procurement process to maintain optimal inventory levels, control costs, and ensure high quality standards and timely deliveries. This role handles day-to-day purchasing requests, ensuring the material and services are available to support operations without disruption while driving value and cost savings. Responsibilities include forecasting seasonal demands, evaluating inventory needs, and efficiently responding to supplier and customer inquiries. The Specialist also proactively addresses procurement issues such as order delays, shortages, and changes to support effective and efficient sourcing outcomes.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesFunctions include, but are not limited to:
Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or similar roleComprehensive knowledge of purchasing principles and best practicesProficiency in EBS, Fleet Asset Works, Tableau Reporting, and SharePointAbility to understand chemical specifications, SDS documentation, and compliance requirementsBilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred

Duties & ResponsibilitiesFunctions include, but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain necessary stock of parts, materials, and suppliesEffectively communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of quality productsBuild and manage strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersEnsure compliance with company policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirementsPrepare and review purchase orders and invoices for accuracyRegularly review and manage open purchase orders and receiptsReview and process non-inventory requisition ordersPrepare for Seasonal work (harvest, irrigation, etc.,) by forecasting, bidding and orderingReview slow-moving inventory to minimize wasteReview and Update min/max levelsCross reference inventory parts and identify optimal sourcing optionsRespond efficiently to purchasing and accounts payable inquiries Additional FunctionsProvide backup support during month-end closingProvide coverage for team meetings as requiredAssist Inventory Managers, Assistant Inventory Managers, and Shop Personnel as neededQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
