Company Overview:
Mr. Greens has proudly grown into one of the largest privately-owned produce distributors in Florida, Texas and Georgia. With deliveries 365 days a year, 7 days a week and multiple runs per day, Mr. Greens has set the gold standard for service. We service a large variety of clients, including restaurants, hotels, country clubs, caterers, grocery stores and retail outlets. The Protein Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of protein products, including meat, poultry, and seafood, to support daily distribution operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining product availability, controlling costs, and ensuring product quality in a fast-paced food distribution environment. Responsibilities Source and purchase protein products (meat, poultry, seafood) based on company needs and demand forecasts Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure cost-effective purchasing Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and product availability Coordinate with sales and operations teams to align purchasing with customer demand Ensure product quality, food safety, and compliance with company standards Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and shortages Resolve supply issues, shortages, or quality concerns in a timely manner Track and analyze purchasing data, margins, and performance metrics Requirement 4+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement (food industry preferred) Knowledge of protein products (meat, seafood, poultry) is highly preferred Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment handling perishable products Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Physical Demands/ Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
