We are currently looking for a motivated and detail-driven Construction Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This role plays an important part in keeping our commercial construction projects moving smoothly by sourcing materials, coordinating vendors, managing purchase orders, and supporting project teams from start to finish. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and confident communicating with suppliers, subcontractors, project managers, and trade partners. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys problem-solving, negotiating, building strong relationships, and helping projects stay on schedule and within budget. Responsibilities Source, order, and track materials, fixtures, equipment, and supplies for commercial construction projects. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and trade partners. Perform material takeoffs from construction drawings and project plans. Send plans and specifications to subcontractors for bidding, review bids for accuracy, and prepare purchase orders to secure subcontractors for upcoming projects. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, inventory, and material costs. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to help create cost savings. Coordinate material deliveries to job sites and ensure items arrive on time. Communicate regularly with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to align purchasing with project schedules. Review supplier performance and recommend improvements or changes when needed. Assist with budget tracking, cost control, and project purchasing reports. Ensure purchasing practices follow company policies and applicable industry requirements. Resolve issues related to orders, deliveries, damaged items, missing materials, or product quality. Research new suppliers, products, materials, and cost-effective purchasing opportunities. Assist with permit documentation procurement and permit submittals. Manage warehouse inventory, organization, and supply levels. Schedule and coordinate deliveries as needed. Qualifications 4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction materials, vendors, suppliers, and purchasing processes. Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and construction plans. Excellent negotiation, communication, and follow-up skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and purchasing or inventory management software. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities at the same time. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with a team. Experience with cost estimating and budget management is a plus.
