Recent growth has led to opportunities to join our established civil construction company in the Tampa/Riverview area The Materials Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of construction materials for heavy civil infrastructure projects such as large scale residential projects, roadways, and commercial/industrial projects. This position requires strong negotiation skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with suppliers, project teams, and field operations to maintain project schedules and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project timelines and budgets. Source and evaluate suppliers for construction materials including aggregates, concrete, steel, piping, geotextiles, and other civil infrastructure components. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance. Coordinate delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive on-site as needed. Work with logistics teams to optimize transportation and storage solutions. Track inventory levels and forecast future material needs. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to understand material requirements. Provide regular updates on procurement status and potential risks to project timelines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred). 3+ years of procurement experience in the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil projects. Strong knowledge of construction materials and industry suppliers. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
