As our Strategic Procurement Analyst, you'll be at the heart of our procurement-to-pay process, serving as the vital link between vendors, stakeholders, and internal teams. This isn't just about processing orders—you'll be a strategic problem-solver who proactively identifies opportunities, drives process improvements, and shapes our make vs. buy strategy alongside Category Management. You'll have the autonomy to monitor supplier performance, analyze cost structures, and lead cross-functional initiatives that directly impact our bottom line.
Responsibilities:
Build Strategic Partnerships:
Establish collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to truly understand and fulfill their procurement requirementsDrive Vendor Excellence:
Review and manage vendor engagement requests while providing exceptional customer service throughout the procurement journey Collaborate Across theEnterprise:
Work seamlessly with Operations, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, Finance, Category Procurement, Sales, Marketing, BD Procurement EU, and moreEvaluate & Optimize Suppliers:
Assess current and potential suppliers based on capabilities, costs, expertise, and strategic alignmentLead Cost Improvement Initiatives:
Identify, analyze, and execute major cost-saving projects at both division and manufacturing plant levelsManage Inventory Intelligence:
Monitor and analyze slow-moving/obsolete inventory at supplier sites, partnering with Finance to drive resolutionsNavigate Risk Strategically:
Lead risk buy requests from suppliers and collaborate with Engineering for timely, informed decision-makingSpearhead Cross-Functional Projects:
Lead teams to generate formal RFPs/RFQs, conduct Make vs. Buy analyses, manage supplier changes, develop risk mitigation strategies, and support manufacturing projectsOptimize Purchase Order Management:
Validate Kinaxis-generated purchase orders, expedite approvals, and maintain current delivery dates in JDE based on real-time supplier feedbackChampion Continuous Improvement:
Identify, scope, and lead cost improvement projects at suppliers, divisions, and strategic facilitiesFacilitate Strategic Planning:
Lead monthly supplier S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) forProcurement Strategic Accounts Maintain System Accuracy:
Identify, update, and maintain supplier lead-times in ERP/JDE systemsEnable Supplier Visibility:
Share 12-month rolling forecasts with suppliers to support their planningImplement Best Practices:
Roll out and maintain best-in-class purchase order management processesSupport Financial Operations:
Assist Accounts Payable with pending supplier invoice requestsEnsure Data Integrity:
Guarantee accurate setup and maintenance of vendor master informationChampion Inclusive Solutions:
Design innovative procurement strategies that honor and reflect diverse user identities, cultural backgrounds, and unique perspectives across our global organization Be aKnowledge Connector:
Actively share your procurement expertise with teammates and cross-functional collaborators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaborationDrive Strategic Projects:
Plan and execute high-priority procurement initiatives using the most effective methodologies to achieve measurable business objectives Master thePurchasing Landscape:
Communicate and apply knowledge across a comprehensive range of purchasing activities, from vendor management to contract negotiationsEnsure Excellence & Compliance:
Maintain rigorous adherence to company procedures and industry regulations, serving as a trusted steward of organizational standards Ability to travel 10%Key Metrics You'll Drive:
Preventing and eliminating supplier-related backorders Identifying and executing Purchase Price Variance (PPV) opportunities Modifying and right-sizing supply to optimize inventory levelsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field 1 year experience in Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, and/or Operations ERP/MRP system experience Must be willing and able to travel between manufacturing facilities, division sites, and supplier sites as needed to achieve business unit and functional area goalsKnowledge and Skills:
The ability to work effectively and to implement solutions on a strict timeline in a cross functional team environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills with some presentation experience Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred (Pivot Tables, Macros, etc) Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications Demonstrated experience in influence stakeholders and supporting cross-functional teams Negotiation experience with contracts, terms, pricing, and scopePreferred Qualifications:
MBA 3 - 5
years experience in Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, and/or Operations Experience in Medical Device, Medical Supply, or Pharmaceutical Industry At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
