Schumacher Elevator Company is seeking a detail oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our growing team. This role is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing materials and components required for elevator manufacturing operations, with a primary focus on long-lead-time items, supplier performance management, and ensuring material availability to support production and customer delivery commitments. What you need for this position:
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience managing long-lead-time materials and supplier relationships preferred
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered What you'll be doing:
- Procuring materials, components, and services required for elevator manufacturing operations
- Monitoring inventory levels, usage trends, and forecast requirements to ensure operational continuity
- Coordinate with Planning and Production teams regarding material shortages, schedule changes, and delivery priorities.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing process, supplier performance, and inventory optimization.
- Maintaining accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and ERP system data The details: For 90 years Schumacher Elevator has been a well-known and respected family owned and operated company that designs, manufactures, installs and services custom passenger and freight elevators.
