Full Job Description Primary Responsibilities:
Obtain an understanding of the MetalTraq system to approve reorders and purchase assigned steel products Review inventory using available tools and reports in a timely manner to ensure the recommended amount(s) are in line with company goals Purchase the assigned products from approved vendors taking into account availability and overall net price Monitor the inbound material for timely arrival while taking into account the facility capacity Minimize out-of-stock items based upon guidance provided via product classification categories Engage Account Managers on significant individual sales to help determine appropriate volumes are ordered Progress toward individual and overall company goals on a regular basis Report on developments related to the market conditions of the specific products managed Assist other Purchasing Agents with their daily activities when needed
Physical & Work Requirements:
Ensure professional appearance appropriate for meetings with executive level employees or clients Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a computer Limited travel (3 to 4 times per year)
Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
Basic computer skills required i.e. proficient use of Microsoft Office Strong written and oral communication skills Composure Instills trust and confidence Learning agility Highly detail-oriented Strong numerical abilities
Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:
Solid organization skills Strong customer orientation with proven relationship building skills Bachelor's degree preferred
