Our client is looking for a Buyer who has experience purchasing for kitchen equipment, utensils, disposables/packaging (plasticware, paper plates, food containers, etc.) and/or chemicals (cleaners, sanitizers, etc.) The Buyer is responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure consistent product availability across a fast-paced food distribution environment. This role focuses on short-term procurement decisions, supplier coordination, and inventory management to support operational efficiency and customer demand. Key Responsibilities Execute purchase orders for various products based on demand forecasts and inventory levels Monitor inventory daily and adjust purchasing to prevent stockouts or excess inventory Maintain strong communication with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules Resolve order discrepancies, shortages, and quality issues in a timely manner Track and respond to market changes (pricing, ?????ality, supply constraints) impacting product availability Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and sales teams to align purchasing with operational needs Ensure compliance with food safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate purchasing data and documentation within ERP systems Support cost control initiatives by identifying savings opportunities and minimizing waste Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2-5+ years of purchasing relevant items (see above) Strong understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes Proficient in Excel and data analysis Key Skills Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Effective communication and organizational skills Problem-solving mindset with a focus on execution Ability to work cross-functionally with various teamsSimilar jobs in Berkeley, IL
