The Opportunity We have an immediate opening in our Abbott Park, IL Location for a Senior Procurement Specialist - Professional Services in the Regional Procurement Operations team within the Global Procurement Services (GPS) division. As a Senior Specialist, you will lead procurement activities for the stakeholders to bring best value for Abbott Laboratories. You will be responsible for executing against the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers. Work intimately with stakeholders, divisions and the Category Managers driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model. Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. You will have delegated purchasing authority to commit expenditure of company funds. You will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support stakeholder needs and expectations. What You'll Work On Considered a Subject Matter Expert across categories. Strong understanding of "One Procurement" category strategies and work on projects that impact the "One Procurement" team. Requires in depth and breadth of contract negotiation knowledge and experience. Acts as a subcategory lead, having in depth understanding of the businesses, suppliers, and capabilities. First line responder; supports business stakeholder service needs. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Execute against larger category strategies and work in the guidance of strategic category leaders. Researches and evaluates services and suppliers. Performs value analysis on costs and supplier quotes to obtain best value. Analyzes and distills data to deliver solutions to complex problems. Support and manage PO approvals and changes. Support supplier integration and KPI's. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, meet stakeholder needs while driving value and GM savings outcomes. Collaborates with internal functions like Legal, Finance, Ethics and Compliance, etc. to mitigate risks and comply with policy and regulations. Provides advice/direction in primary areas of expertise. Builds effective relationships with stakeholders, seeks to understand the business needs and obtain stakeholder alignment. Drives implementation and stakeholder adoption of category strategies. Seeks, develops, and establishes business relationships with diverse suppliers. Meets regularly with divisional internal stakeholders and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies. Responsible for leading and mentoring Associate Specialist and Specialist procurement personnel. Provides guidance and training to Specialist. Understand and apply cultural awareness with internal and external stakeholders. Drive and grow strong effective business relationships with suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders. Responsible for adhering to and enforcing compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures. Executes against the goals set by the Category Leads /Managers/Directors. Drives innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels.
