Job Description
Position Overview The Buyer II supports the Materials Manager in executing purchasing and inventory management activities for the Business Unit. This role is responsible for ensuring best‑practice supply chain processes and contributing to optimal performance across Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics. The Buyer II collaborates cross‑functionally and with external suppliers to support new product development, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen supplier performance. Key Responsibilities Support the Materials Manager in developing and executing strategic supply chain plans, including identifying and implementing spend strategies aligned to Business Unit objectives. Provide purchasing support for new product development and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes. Collaborate with supplier partners to identify new materials, methods, or components that drive manufacturing efficiency or sales performance improvement. Own and manage the Make‑to‑Order (MTO) purchasing process, issuing MTO purchase orders on a weekly basis. Drive assigned projects to successful completion as directed by the Materials Manager. Support the development, growth, and ongoing management of supplier relationships to ensure an optimal and resilient supply base. Conduct supplier analysis, annual supplier evaluations, and execute formal supplier development plans when required. Monitor and manage supplier performance through the supplier scorecard system (DOMO). Measure and report weekly, quarterly, and annual materials performance metrics aligned with Business Unit goals. Apply Lean principles, including value stream mapping, to streamline processes and minimize inventory. Promote and actively support continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in the SIOP process at all organizational levels. Assist with product life cycle analysis for the Mobile Power Value Stream. Maintain an assertive follow‑up process to ensure supplier schedule compliance. Partner effectively with Management, Production, Customer Service, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Human Resources, and Operations teams. Evaluate and recommend Make/Buy decisions. Participate in Regal Rexnord‑wide or global projects as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Materials or Purchasing role. Strong understanding of strategic sourcing methodologies and their practical application. Working knowledge of commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property considerations within contracts. Ability to assist with contract management, identify risks within complex agreements, and provide recommendations to support legal review. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively and present information clearly to employees, management, customers, and suppliers. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. Experience managing inventory using a Kanban or pull‑based system. Experience working with suppliers of large tonnage stampings, copper or aluminum wire, and ball bearings. Experience with supplier performance management, scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives. SAP or similar ERP system experience preferred Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
