This role is responsible for procuring raw materials, consumables, and indirect materials required to support production schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels and controlling costs. The Buyer will work closely with suppliers, production planning, operations, warehouse, and finance teams to ensure material availability, and manage purchase orders. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and analytical skills with manufacturing purchasing experience and a commitment to customer service and operational excellence. This position plays a critical role in supporting production continuity, inventory management, supplier relationships, and overall operational performance. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Procurement Execute daily purchasing activities for raw materials, fabricated components, consumables, and indirect materials. Create, manage, and expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials. Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, pricing, and lead times. Ensure purchase orders are accurate and aligned with production and inventory requirements. Track and communicate supplier delivery commitments and resolve scheduling issues as needed. Supplier & Vendor Management Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendor partners. Communicate supplier issues. Escalate material shortages, late deliveries, and quality concerns to management as appropriate. Support supplier evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives. Planning & Data Analysis Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within ERP systems.

Inventory levels Purchase order status Material shortages Cost savings initiatives Qualifications Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or related field preferred or equivalent experience. 1-3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience creating and managing purchase orders. Working knowledge of inventory management principles. Experience using ERP systems (Epicor experience strongly preferred). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience in steel fabrication, metal manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing environments.
