Civil Division Minimal Requirements:
Must be a licensed attorney in good standing in the state of Kentucky. Must have received a juris doctor degree at a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. Minimum (3) three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Preferred Experience:
Experience providing legal advice concerning contracts, and/or to a municipal or governmental entity, or serving as a general counsel is preferred.
Job Overview :
The Jefferson County Attorney's Office has one (1) full-time position open as a contracts and procurement attorney in the Civil Division. The attorney is responsible for providing legal advice to the Louisville Metro Government concerning contracts and the procurement laws and regulations applicable to them. The work will include writing contracts and memoranda of agreement, review of vendor-provided form agreements, assisting in contract negotiations, appearing before the Louisville Metro Council to answer questions concerning contracts submitted to that body for approval and drafting legislation concerning such agreements. The attorney will be responsible for issue spotting and providing legal advice on proposed actions. The attorney will need to possess excellent written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and research skills. Compensation starts at $80,000 per year, higher based on experience and expertise - plus considerable benefits including a generous leave and vacation policy, health and life insurance, parking, and, as a public service provider, eligibility for potential loan forgiveness through federal programs for those who qualify.
