Monday - Friday Position Summary The Buyer - Product is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, products, and services to support production operations. This role ensures optimal pricing, quality, and delivery performance while maintaining strong supplier relationships and aligning purchasing activities with organizational goals. Success in this role is measured through cost savings, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and operational efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operational Execution Issue and manage purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials and services. Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with internal teams to meet production and customer demand requirements. Track orders and proactively resolve delivery, quality, and invoice discrepancies. Maintain ERP system data related to part pricing and supplier information. Monitor MRP signals and adjust purchasing activity based on demand fluctuations and production needs. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, service, and reliability. Partner closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to resolve material constraints and support operational goals. Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across the organization. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding purchasing status, supplier performance, and supply chain risks. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Experience 2-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with MRP/ERP systems in a production setting. Software Competencies Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience using purchasing, inventory, and supplier management software. Ability to analyze data and generate reports to support purchasing decisions. Preferred Skills Experience with metal fabrication, electrical assemblies, or industrial manufacturing. Understanding of bills of materials (BOMs), production workflows, and manufacturing drawings. Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives. APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or Institute for Supply Management CPSM certification preferred. Data-driven decision-making capabilities. Attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency. High level of integrity and professionalism when working with suppliers and internal teams. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Primarily office-based within a manufacturing environment. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor conditions including noise and moving equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
