Full Job Description Summary:
The Procurement and Planning Coordinator is responsible for supporting supply chain operations through purchasing, supplier management, production planning, scheduling, and inventory control. This role ensures materials and production capacity align with customer demand, maintains supplier performance standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The position collaborates closely with production, customer service, and other functional teams to ensure timely fulfillment, accurate inventory records, and proactive issue resolution. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management Lead investigations and resolution of supplier quality issues and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Create, confirm, track, and verify purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Monitor inventory levels and ensure supplies are ordered before depletion to prevent shortages or production delays. Develop, monitor, and adjust inventory min/max levels to optimize stock levels and working capital. Identify supply chain challenges and implement corrective actions while proactively communicating status updates to customer service and internal stakeholders. Review supplier performance metrics including on-time delivery (OTD), open orders, responsiveness, and forecasting needs using supplier scorecards and reporting tools. Negotiate pricing, terms, and freight arrangements with suppliers and vendors. Support sourcing and onboarding of new suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and competitive pricing. Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain production schedules to support customer demand and business priorities. Create work orders and production instructions based on scheduling requirements and capacity planning. Close out work orders in the ERP system, verify production receipts, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. Analyze and reconcile production reporting discrepancies to maintain data integrity. Maintain inventory availability and process requisitions; investigate inventory variances and root causes. Provide accurate information on availability of standard and custom products. Communicate schedule changes, production delays, tooling issues, and capacity constraints to customer service and relevant stakeholders. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing process and data audits, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions. General Responsibilities Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management. Maintain a high level of professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information. Collaborate cross-functionally to meet customer and business requirements. Education & Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations preferred. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments and with external suppliers. Negotiation skills for supplier pricing, terms, and logistics. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data-driven reporting tools. Understanding of inventory control, forecasting, and production planning principles. Working Conditions Office and manufacturing environment with occasional time spent on the production floor.
