Packaging Buyer

Opal Foods is adding to the team with a great opportunity for a Packaging Buyer. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Packaging Buyer will track, manage and order all packaging materials for the locations assigned to them.

Monitor ordering and storage of inventory for assigned plantsWork with receiving department managers to ensure necessary items are in stockAssist/schedule delivery appointments for incoming packaging loads for plants assignedMaintain packaging calendars for plants assignedConstantly working to reduce warehousing costsWork with Sales and Customer Service to accurately forecast future packaging needs Maintain and implement comprehensive policies and procedures for inventory control to manage the flow of supplies and merchandiseServe as backup for Procurement ManagerOther ResponsibilitiesOther duties and projects may be assigned based on company needs. Qualifications Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredDemonstrated ability to work independentlyDemonstrated ability to multi-taskEffective team skillsEffective communication skills towards all levels of the organizationProfessional and courteous approach to interacting with customers and internal stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to analyze data and make effective decisions based on data providedWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must be proficient in use of Excel spreadsheetsDemonstrated ability to effectively speak, read, and write in EnglishPreferred Qualifications Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelors Degree preferredPrevious experience in the commercial egg industry preferredPrevious experience in purchasing or procurement related roles preferred
