POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Buyer I will purchase materials - both indirect and direct, services, or equipment. As a Buyer I, you are responsible for purchasing indirect/direct materials and services at lowest cost consistent with required quality, quantity, and availability. This position will actively work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, operations, and quality to support the organization and the goal of building the best-in-class fire apparatus .
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All employees are required to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. Analyzes messages from MRP systems and initiate new purchases, as well as reschedule and cancel existing orders to support production schedule changes and inventory initiatives. Interacts and communicates with suppliers the product specifications, purchase order details, and delivery requirements to support the business need. Reviews and resolves receiving and invoicing discrepancies, as required by receiving or accounts payable, to ensure accurate inventory and timely supplier payments. Reviews and resolves problems relating to delivery, quality and pricing are promptly communicated to the Supplier in a timely manner. Maintains proper supplier order confirmation in the ERP system. Monitors planned delivery dates versus build schedule demand and notify production support of any upcoming or pending delays that could impact the scheduled build plan. Participates in daily Production Meetings to review and update operations to support effective communication between Supply Chain and Operations. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company and our members.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
: Knowledge, Education, and/or
Experience:
Associate's degree in Business Discipline or a High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of relevant purchasing and planning experience is required. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management is preferred. Experience and general understanding of material resource planning (MRP) and accounting is preferred.
Skills:
Language:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to use effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Computer:
Able to work efficiently with Sage to complete job tasks. Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening, and closing files, simple formulas. Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC.
Abilities:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor. Ability to follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur. Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions. Analytical and highly motivated individual with acute attention to detail. Proficient in your ability to manage multiple and diverse projects, including analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, problem solving, decision making, and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including tack and diplomacy, which would be utilized during customer service, conflict management, and development of relationships with internal and external contacts. You bring with you a positive can-do attitude and the ability to work cohesively in a team environment. You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization. Entry-Level to Intermediate experience and working knowledge of relevant computer software, i.e. MS Applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general understanding of ERP systems. Must handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion. Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is in a office setting and sometimes outside, and it has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position will be exposed to the elements and will have to prepare themselves with the right equipment to ensure safety.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires sitting, standing and walking for the majority of the shift. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. Depending on the season, different protective apparel will be required. The use of knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms can vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. This position requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to complete job tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
