This role is vital in supporting daily purchasing activities, inventory management, shipping and receiving, and warehouse operations within a dynamic marine transportation environment. Responsibilities Review material/service requests and collaborate with internal departments to confirm specifications, quantities, lead times, and required delivery dates. Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders with a high level of accuracy; track open orders and expedite shipments as operational priorities change. Monitor stock levels, usage patterns, and purchasing activity to help prevent shortages and support replenishment planning. Communicate and negotiate with vendors on pricing, availability, delivery performance, quality expectations, and service responsiveness. Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, verify deliveries against packing slips, and ensure inventory records/documentation are updated and organized. Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to support consistent, reliable service. Assist with warehouse layout, cleanliness, and organization to improve efficiency and inventory control. Provide operational support as needed, including maintenance assistance, parts runs, yard support, and other day-to-day tasks. Operate company vehicles when required to support pickups, deliveries, and errands. Support light facility upkeep (e.g., minor maintenance, cleaning/janitorial tasks, painting, and similar duties) as needed. Handle company and operational information discreetly and maintain confidentiality. Requirements Experience in the maritime, marine transportation, industrial, or oil transportation industries is preferred. Shipyard experience is a must Prior experience with purchasing, warehouse operations, inventory control, or logistics coordination is advantageous. Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic repair tools. Supporting tug and barge operations experience is a plus. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Professional interaction with office staff and vessel crews. Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record. Valid TWIC card required. First Aid and CPR certification are preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Willingness to work in warehouse, yard, dockside, and vessel environments, including boarding tugs and barges, often exposed to outdoor weather and marine conditions.
