Purchasing Generalist ???? Newark, NJ (Onsite) About the Opportunity We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Generalist to join a growing manufacturing organization in Newark, NJ. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient procurement of raw materials and supplies needed to support production operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment. This individual will collaborate closely with production, warehouse, customer service, and shipping teams to ensure materials and orders are processed accurately and delivered on time. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Order Management Review and verify the accuracy of 100-200 orders daily, ensuring all specifications, quantities, materials, and delivery schedules are correct prior to processing. Procure raw materials and supplies required to support manufacturing operations. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing activities to maintain uninterrupted production schedules. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely material deliveries. Maintain accurate purchasing and order records within internal systems. Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with production and warehouse teams to ensure orders are manufactured and shipped according to customer requirements and quality standards. Work closely with customer service, production, and shipping departments to support seamless order flow and on-time delivery performance. Investigate and resolve order discrepancies, shortages, and material issues while implementing corrective actions. Process Improvement & Reporting Identify opportunities to improve purchasing and order processing efficiency. Track and report order accuracy metrics, trends, and areas for improvement. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost savings, quality, and operational effectiveness. Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred. 2-3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials management, or supply chain functions. Manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Strong vendor management, sourcing, and negotiation skills. Knowledge of inventory management, purchasing systems, and production planning processes. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple departments. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
