The Purchasing Representative's role is to manage inventory, procurement of materials and supplier relationships. The Purchasing Representative must develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and key suppliers. Communication and collaboration is critical to be successful with stakeholders to ensure procurement strategy success. This role will be a developmental position. The initial focus of the role will be handling tactical activities as the candidate learns the role. Over time, the candidate would take on a larger role until they are managing the complete inbound supply chain.

Duties Inventory management:

Establishes inventory thresholds and reorder points for all items. Balances working capital without disruption to customer supply. Manages intercompany inventory transfers.

Material procurement:

Places purchases order for product, tracks delivery progress, and prepares paperwork to clear customs for imported material. Reviews and approves product certificates for conformity to product specifications Negotiation and contracts: Ability to negotiate best value while maintaining long term supplier relationships.

Strategy:

establishes, aligns and executes a procurement strategy for the business. Identifies and leads the qualification of new material sources. Skills Undergraduate degree in business, operations management, supply-chain management or equivalent experience Organized with attention to detail Strong work ethic and adaptable. Ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at once Ability to partner and collaborate with co workers and suppliers Effective communication and interpersonal skills in person as well as via phone, video and email. Excellent decision-making skills. Ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize and respond effectively to changing situations. This role is essential for ensuring that the organization operates smoothly through effective purchasing strategies. The Purchaser will contribute significantly to the overall efficiency of operations by managing resources wisely. Standard working hours Monday to Friday on site in Long Island City office (hours can be flexible).
